Code Green is a Berkeley-based non-profit that is working to raise awareness of e-waste and e-recycling in the Bay Area. The evolving problem of electronic waste is growing more serious in California everyday as consumers and companies continuously purchase electronic goods in replacement of their outdated devices. Our organization aims for consumers and electronic manufacturers to take responsibility for the increasing production of e-waste by utilizing the Bay Area’s e-recycling programs.
Code Green is supported by the Haas Levi Grants program and Portrero Nuevo. For more information, e-mail info@code-green.org
"Analysts estimate that more than 6000 computers become obsolete in California every day. They are either tossed out with the trash and subsequently landfilled by trash collectors - often illegally - or stored in attics and garages for a later day when they will be dumped."
